English education di peringkat menengah berkembang pesat.
Kalau marahkan nyamok,janganlah membakar kelambu

MEMOIR SEORANG PESARA NO 41

MEMOIR SEORANG PESARA........NO. 41 ..........MANUSIA PEROSAK DI MUKA BUMI

SUNGAI PETANI AND ITS BYGONE YEARS OF 1950

 MEMOIR SEORANG PESARA----NO. 33....

SUNGAI PETANI IN ITS BYGONE YEARS OF 1950………GOLF CLUBS FOR THE ELITE GROUP
I have already writtened 3 articles about Sungai Petani the bygone years of 1950……….it brought about self-satisfaction and hope for the many old residents still hanging round in this earth of Allah a refreshing memories. For the youngs hoping will endeavour them love of history ,place and friendship .
I love much of SP because much of my childhood days, academic days, young man’s age and at this point of old age are still around SP..
In this next article with pleasure would like to say something about the golf clubs existed since 1900 or so.Both clubs were for the elite groups of people whereabouts. The British personnels , State civil servants of high ranking, the rich and famous of the locals.Even those from Penang flocked to SP for the game of golf among them and had dinner and dance on weekdays during the British administration.
I knew little about the running of these 2 clubs.I was small and young at age.Not even in an era of puberty.Still childish. What I knew was whenever there was ‘Dinner and Dance’ , me and my gang would be present among the trees around the club, enjoying seeing people dancing with changing partners. From there I learned what is foxtrot,cha-cha -cha,tango,and many more types of dancing. We were only exposed to menari ronggeng ,when then funfairs were often shown on the public ground.P Ramlee and his group often invited by the organisers.
The Sungai Petani Club had a vast course for golf. Now it is getting narrower because of development. The school was built there, the the gathering hall, and many more not to mention. The scenery here is no more refreshing to the eyes. The noisyness will make you deaf. The air no more breezes with ease. You can no more leisurely hang around with you own madness.
The Harvard golf Club is situated 7 milas away at Bedong. It was a property of the Harvard estate ,the biggest in Kedah and the most established .I knew nothing about this Club dulu dan sekarang. The harvard golf course stands till today and had a holiday resort for people of all walks of life……..Ibrahim School alumni IOBA in most occasion had their golf competition every year at Harvard.
Let bygone be bygone. Its nice to remain young.
