Saiful's sodomy oath imam sacked
PUTRAJAYA: Former Federal Territory Mosque imam Ramlang Porigi, who witnessed alleged sodomy victim Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan's oath-taking, but later claimed he had been directed to do so, has been sacked.
Islamic Development Department (Jakim) director-general Datuk Wan Mohamad Sheikh Abdul Aziz said Ramlang's termination from the civil service was done according to regulations.He said the termination letter, which he signed, was issued to Ramlang early this week. Wan Mohamad said Ramlang could, within 14 days from the date the letter was issued, appeal against the decision with the Public Services Commission and that the Disciplinary Board would then study the matter.He said Ramlang was sacked under Regulation 38(g) of the Public Officers (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.
It is understood Ramlang faced three charges, including one of speaking at several Parti Keadilan Rakyat ceramah during the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election campaign period last year. During the ceramah, Ramlang claimed that on Aug 15 he had been ordered to witness Saiful swearing on the Quran that he had been sodomised by PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
